Kisaragi Shun
Also known as: Shun-bo, Oniichama
Grade: First Year at the start of the series
Room: 210 (with Hasukawa Kazyua)
Birthday: September Twenty-somethingth
Sign: Libra
Blood Type: AB
Height: 164 cm (~5'6")
Weight: 50 kg (110 lbs)
Seiyuu: Sakamoto Chika (Nuriko/Fushigi Yuugi, Mei/Tonari no Totoro)

History:
Shun is the oldest son of the Kisaragi family. The Kisaragis run a
traditional Japanese inn in Shizuoka. Because of the dearth of girls in the
family, Shun and his younger brother Reina (who is 13) must dress in
women's clothing and act as hostesses at the inn. Far from resenting this
parentally imposed cross-dressing, Shun even indulges while away from
home! Shun has an infant sister named Yui-chan. Shun's reasons for
being at Ryokuto Gakuen are unclear, but we're glad he's there!

Appearance:
For all intents and purposes, Shun resembles a cute, tomboyish girl with
long pink hair and pink eyes. He doesn't have breasts, but appears to
have 'em when he wears a dress. (Falsies?) Shun is slightly taller and
heavier than Hasukawa.

Personality:
Genki in the extreme. Shun's personal philosophy is "Relax -- don't work
too hard!" and he follows this to the letter. He's often found hanging out
in Mitsuru and Shinobu's room watching movies instead of doing his
homework. Shun is almost always laughing or smiling, and he has a
friendly, easygoing demeanor which wins him friends everywhere he
goes. He also enjoys gossiping (and jumping to conclusions about other
people's personal lives). Shun looks up to Shinobu and Mitsuru and is a
loyal friend to Hasukawa. When trouble arises, he is always very
concerned about his friends' well being. Shun rarely becomes truly angry.

Special Abilities/Points of Interest:
In the manga his special feature is listed as: "Kawaii!" (How true! ^_^)

Decidedly androgynous. At the pool he wears swim trunks and odango!
(In the bath he just wears the odango. ^_~ See below.)

Despite his dressing habits, Shun is heterosexual. (He had a crush on a
girl in junior high school, but she "just wanted to be friends". Silly girl!)
Shun was also extremely offended when Hasukawa called him "okama".

Shun is very comfortable with who he is, which is laudable. ^_^

Imo-girl Recommends:
If you like Shun because. . .
. . .he's utterly genki, check out Makimachi Misao (Rurouni Kenshin)
and Kurata Sana (Kodomo no Omocha).
. . .he's androgynous, take a peek at Nuriko (Fushigi Yuugi).
. . .his seiyuu is AWESOME, listen to Nuriko (Fushigi Yuugi).

Odango in the furo.
A pensive moment.
Relationships:
Shun is basically Hasukawa's kid -- uh, *sister*, as well as his best
friend. Shun teases Suka-chan and drags him out for shopping and
snacks, pesters and annoys him and supports him when he's in trouble.
Without genki Shun around, Suka-chan would be even more morose
than he is already, but squabbling with his roommate tends to keep him
from brooding too much.

Shun and Mitsuru are friends, and are probably the most alike of the
gang of four. It's fun to see them act girly together. Underneath it all,
Shun respects and admires his sempai. I sometimes wonder if Shun
doesn't have a bit of a crush on Mitsuru, despite being straight.

When asked about Shinobu in the manga, Shun smiles broadly and says:
"Shinobu-sempai is like a god!" Although they are friends, Shun is not
as close to Shinobu as he is to the others, and they have more of a good
sempai/kouhai partnership than a relationship of equals. Shun has a
healthy fear of his sempai but likes him, nevertheless, and Shinobu's
attitude toward Shun is one of benign indulgence.

Of all the Greenwood characters, Shun has the happiest home life. His
little brother idolizes him and his parents are always approving. Sure,
he has to dress like a girl when he's at home, but it doesn't bother him
in the least, so why should it bother anyone else?

Why I worship:
Shun is cute and fun and he adds a lot of humor to the anime and manga.
His role as the well-adjusted weirdo is the perfect foil to Suka-chan's
messed-up normal kid.
