Evil Things that Sempai Do
Last Update 4/26/01

A short listing of the things Mitsuru and Shinobu do to their kouhai. . .
and to each other:
Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the "your roommate is a
girl" scam. Not only do Mitsuru and Shinobu play with Hasukawa's mind, they wager money on how long it's going to take him to figure it out.
Mitsuru steals food from everyone. He even uses blackmail to get
mandarin oranges from Fujikake. (Fujikake isn't aware that everyone in the dorm already suspects his little secret.) At one point Aoki and Sakaguchi attempt to bill Mitsuru for all the fruit he's taken from the dorm residents. No luck.
When Sumire visits Hasukawa, Shinobu broadcasts the information to the
whole dorm instead of giving Kazuya the message personally.
Mitsuru tells Kazuhiro about the bloody nose Kazuya got in response to
Sumire's embrace.
Mitsuru and Shinobu allow a hapless Shun to be dragged into the
women's changing room at the pool. Shun responds by blowing his resultant bloody nose on Mitsuru's shirt!
Shinobu asks Kazuya if he knows how to make a "snow fairy" (snow
angel). When Hasukawa says no, Shinobu instructs him to hold his arms out, then pushes him over into a snow bank.
Shinobu volunteers Mitsuru and Kazuya for major roles in the "Here is
Devilwood" movie without their knowledge or consent.
Shinobu leaves Mitsuru in Misako's care.
Mitsuru has Kazuya elected Dorm Head.
Mitsuru and Shinobu tell Hasukawa that it's tradition for the new dorm
head to sing a song in front of all the dorm members. (Of course, it's a lie, but Hasukawa doesn't know any better since he missed the first month of school his first year!) They then take bets on how many songs they can get him to sing. (Three.) When Kazuya finds out, he punches both of them and confiscates the gambling money for dorm expenses.
Afterwards, Hasukawa's guilty conscience and fear of retribution (from
Shinobu) cause Hasukawa to have terrible nightmares. Shinobu is aware of the situation, but allows the nightmares to continue instead of talking to Kazuya.
Mitsuru's method of motivation during his tutoring sessions is to smack
Hasukawa upside the head with a rolled up magazine. Judging by one of the pictures in manga volume 4, Shinobu occasionally joins in (he's also holding a rolled up magazine).
When he realizes how embarrassed Mitsuru is by the sight of the ladies'
underwear he's holding, Shinobu holds them in front of his roommate's face and stretches them repeatedly, saying: "Looook... Look... Look... Look... Look..." (^_^;)
When renting rowboats, Shinobu arranges for Shun to share his boat, thus
forcing Hasukawa and Mitsuru to be the only (visibly) same-sex couple on the lake. o_O Mitsuru makes Hasukawa row.
Shinobu tries to abandon Hasukawa with the baby.
When a strange girl catches Mitsuru holding a girlie magazine, he tries to
indicate that it actually belongs to Shinobu. Shinobu redirects Mitsuru's finger so that it's pointing to Hasukawa instead!
Shinobu is constantly breaking curfew, putting the Dorm Head (initially
Mitsuru and later, Kazuya) in the dilemma of either having to lie (by marking Shinobu "present" on the nightly roll sheet) or facing Shinobu's displeasure (if they mark him "absent").
After Mitsuru is abducted, the dorm residents try to figure out who might
have taken him. Shinobu remarks: "Have you thought along the sex-killer line?", causing Kazuya to get a serious case of the willies.
When Nagisa calls Shinobu to tell him she's holding Mitsuru hostage,
Shinobu replies: "It's fine if he stays with you for two or three days. He sleeps on top of me and snores. His sleeping posture is terrible, so he's really loud in the middle of the night." ^_^; (Overhearing this, an angry Mitsuru shouts: "Tell her I'm in the *top bunk*! You're inviting misunderstanding!")
When the former lesbian, Aki-san, hauls a protesting Shun away on a
date, Mitsuru attaches a gift bow to Shun's head and washes his hands of the whole affair.
After Mitsuru agrees to star in a TV commercial with Nitta Mieko,
Shinobu secretly informs Mitsuru's parents. Mrs. Ikeda calls Mitsuru and says: "I hear you've been scouted for a commercial. Is it a proper studio? They don't make *sex videos* do they?!" |

Brothers in Arms
(Mostly) Nice things the Greenwood guys do for each other.
When Sumire visits, Mitsuru and Shinobu cover up Hasukawa's bloody
nose by telling Sumire he has diarrhea. (*sweatdrop*) They also fib that he's staying in the dorms (instead of going home for summer break) because he needs to take extra classes.
Mitsuru offers to tutor Hasukawa and Shun. His instruction helps them to
do well on midterms.
Shun (Mitsuru, in the manga) stops a dazed Hasukawa from attending a
cult meeting. (In the manga, Shinobu does something evil to Bonda afterward. I'm not sure what it is, but there's quite a commotion.)
Shinobu repeatedly reminds Mitsuru to "go easy" on Hasukawa.
Shun offers Hasukawa a place to stay over winter break.
Mitsuru intends to talk to Hasukawa about going home for Christmas, but
it turns out not to be necessary.
When he becomes aware that they're being followed by suspicious-
looking men in a Mercedes, Mitsuru instructs Shun to escape while he stays behind to confront them.
When the other boys won't believe that Mitsuru has been kidnapped,
Shun is so worried that he bursts into tears and tells them that he "hates them all".
Mitsuru cuts his own face on Nagisa's knife so Shinobu won't have to
prostrate himself. (Sure, it heals almost immediately, but it's still gotta hurt!)
Hasukawa attacks Nagisa's henchmen with his bare fists because they've
hurt his sempai.
Shinobu keys Nagisa's Mercedes because he's furious with her for
kidnapping Mitsuru. After the rescue, he apologizes to Mitsuru. @.@
Shinobu arranges Reina's recue.
Mitsuru initially turns down Igarashi's request to stay in the dorm
because Hasukawa will be in trouble if she's discovered.
Shinobu lets a feverish Mitsuru sleep in his bed.
Shinobu, Shun, and Hasukawa arrange to have everyone in the dorm
(plus a few others) show up to Igarashi's fight so Mitsuru won't have to fight in his debilitated condition.
Mitsuru finds out which hospital Igarashi is in. Later, he gives
Hasukawa her home phone number.
At Uguisudani station, Mitsuru hugs a suffering Hasukawa.
Shinobu stops Hasukawa from rashly going over to Igarashi's house
(which would not be well received) and suggests that Hasukawa wait at her school instead. He gives Kazuya stationery so Hasukawa can write to Igarashi.
Mitsuru and Shun skip class repeatedly to watch over Hasukawa during
the vigil at Igarashi's school. Mitsuru rescues Hasukawa from a teacher.
The Greenwood boys beat up the members of the track team who are
trying to drag Hasukawa away from Igarashi's school (to track practice).
After Kazuya floors Shinobu with a right hook, Shinobu refrains from
taking revenge (directly), as this would weaken the authority of the Dorm Head.
When Mitsuru knocks himself unconscious against a tree (during a
volleyball game), Shinobu goes to the infirmary to see how he's doing.
When Shinobu is attacked by two stick-wielding boys, an enraged
Mitsuru drives them off.
In their first few weeks at Greenwood, Mitsuru saves Shinobu from
self-destruction by beating some sense into him. Afterward, he waits in the infirmary until Shinobu regains consciousness.
When Hasukawa awakens with a bloody nose, Shun washes Hasukawa's
sheets by hand in the bathroom sink. (Of course, Tochizawa sees Shun washing bloody sheets and says: "I knew it! He really IS a girl!" ^_^;;)
After the Kanda incident, Shun lets Hasukawa stay at his house. Shun
also repeatedly invites the boys to stay at his family's resorts.
Hasukawa tries to help Mitsuru with his feelings about the Ikedas.
After Mitsuru has his drink appropriated by a little girl, Shinobu gives
him his own drink.
When Hasukawa is left at home alone with the (crying) baby, Mitsuru
stays to help him -- and convinces an unwilling Shinobu to stay, too.
Shinobu, Shun and Hasukawa confront the nefarious ice-skating twins
who have slipped Mitsuru a Mickey.
Mitsuru and Shinobu save the dorm from the invisible nightmare cat.
Shinobu uses his abilities to locate it (Shinobu: "It's on Hasukawa's face") and Mitsuru banishes it with ofuda (actually, it looks like a subway ticket, but it works).
Shinobu rids the dorm of the scary replicant-Shinobu who is breaking
down the doors to people's rooms.
When Mitsuru goes home for a few days, leaving Kazuya as the
replacement dorm head, Shinobu makes sure the upperclassmen obey him as they would Mitsuru.
At the end of the all-school track meet, Mitsuru names Kazuya MVP for
his role in the relay race.
After Mitsuru is assaulted by a homocidal ghost-girl and successfully
drives her away, he immediately goes searching for the others.
On New Year's Day, Mitsuru makes a small offering at the temple for
Shinobu since he knows Shinobu won't do it himself. |
